Why We’re Doing a Parenting Book 4

After many, many requests, Maria and I are doing a parenting book and you’ll be able to download it here.

Why, you ask?

Well, one of the major reasons I am in Chile is to learn more about marketing at one of the premier start-up accelerators in the world. Several advisors have told us that we need to give people more reasons to come to our site and learn about our games because when parents (and kids) try the games, they like them. It’s just so hard to get people to take 5 minutes, or even 30 seconds, of their time to look at a game or look at our resources for teaching.

If you want people to give you their time, you should give them something, said the brilliant marketing gurus.

The requests to write a parenting book started four years ago, when, in response to an article in the Wall Street Journal “Why Chinese mothers are superior” I wrote a post “Why American mothers are superior” because that was a more professional title than “F$%& you and the horse you rode in on”. Maria has told me this book is for parents and we could not have swearing in it. Hmph.

Before you go writing nasty comments saying how dare I suggest American mothers are superior, go read the post, then come back and leave a comment if you want. Don’t be one of those people who don’t need to read something to know they disagree with it.

Our general outline now includes:

  • No one really knows what they’re doing
  • How do you make sure your child gets a good education?
  • Gifted children
  • Children with special needs
  • Behavior problems
  • Kids and sports
  • I have no real answers but I’m going to give it a shot

I think it will be available as a free ebook within the month. It includes some photos of my lovely family and a whole lot of opinions.

If you’d like us to email you a link when it comes out, fill out this 15-second form and we’ll add you to the mailing list. For subject just put “send me the book”. You don’t need to include a message but you can, if you want. Write and tell us how much you like us, or that you love chocolate doughnuts. Seriously, who doesn’t like doughnuts?
