GAMIFICATION AS A LEARNING TECHNIQUE

If you follow us for a while you will know about our passion for teaching mathematics and videogames. If you are new, welcome to 7 Generation Games where we develop educational video games that make you smarter.

At 7 Generation Games, we want to give you more than just educational tips, we want to help you and that is why we offer our videogames on different platforms so you can learn while playing. You don’t have to stop dreaming and building your future just because you own an Android device. (Hey, we’re just teasing you.)

WHY DO YOU LEARN TO PLAY?
Playing is the natural way in which children learn. Play generates interest and raises questions that they want to answer.

When playing children are often more relaxed and engaged during the game, and it is enjoyable: all aspects that facilitate learning. Educators, parents and other influential people in the development of children, must generate instances of learning in a fun way.

GAMIFICATION
Is a learning technique that moves the mechanics of games to the educational-professional field in order to achieve better results, either to better absorb knowledge, improve some skill, or reward concrete actions, among many other objectives.

MY CHILD HATES HOMEWORK!

Gamification is the solution, it can be applied to situations considered boring, an everyday example -of which you were probably also a part- is housekeeping. When you were little and played with your toys, cleaning your room was the end of fun and the beginning of chaos and crying.

Let’s analyze the situation:

Problem: toys scattered around the room
Agents involved: Child and responsible adult

Now, you have two options
OPTION 1: Forcing children to clean while screaming / crying because life is not easy.

or

OPTION 2: Make this tedious process, an instance of relaxation and fun in cooperation.

DING DING! Option 2 is the winner! But how?…

In this case, one of the gamification resources is the song “To order to order everything in its place”. Okay, well maybe you don’t know that song because it’s actually Spanish, “A ordenar a ordenar cada cosa en su lugar.”

Want to improve your Spanish? Try AzTech: The Story Begins – You’ll learn Spanish, history and math all at the same time

A simple song can turn a complicated situation into a play opportunity. And the best part is that you can apply it in other situations such as doing math homework. The important thing is to find a resource or technique that draws the children’s attention to turn a difficult situation into a pleasant moment.

At 7 Generation Games we make these resources available for you to gamify your classes. You can teach math, history, statistics and English with our games.
