Want to work with us? That’s a rhetorical question. Of course, you do. Now, here’s your chance. We’re looking for a paid summer intern who can commit to 15-20 hours a week.
Our basic pre-requisites:
– You have to be reliable. This means you have to commit to a schedule and show up on schedule.
– We’re willing to work with you, but you have to realize you work for us. Not trying to be a jerk, but we’ve had more than enough people tell us, “Well, it would be easier for me if…” We’re looking for someone who will make it easier for us.
– You must be based in the L.A. area — at least close enough to make it into our Santa Monica office once a week.
Here’s our official internship listing:
7 Generation Games, an educational video game startup company, is looking for a reliable and motivated summer intern to work 15-20 hours per week. This is a PAID internship ($10/hour). Looking for someone from June through September. (Exact dates slightly flexible, potential to extend position into Fall.)
Internship will consist of a combination of pre-determined as well as intern-designed responsibilities. Basically, we have some things we need an intern to do – data entry, some basic administrative tasks – but we’re willing to allow you to shape the rest of your time based on your interest and abilities.
This means if you’re in education and interested in helping develop the curricular materials, you can do that. If you want to work in marketing (traditional or social media), you can spend your additional time doing that. If you have the skills and want to do some animation and video game design, we can use you there. If you want to assist with some of the data analysis, you can do that. If you’re a coding whiz and want to put those skills to use, we can put you to work on that. Or if you have an interest in any facet of a tech startup, this position could be a fit.
You will write 1-2 blog posts per week for 7 Generation Games blog (topics can generally reflect the area you choose to focus on).
While we’re flexible, we’re looking for someone who is able to commit (to a set schedule) and who is willing to work hard. It’s probably not going to be glamorous, but you will learn a lot. Also, as we mentioned before, you’ll get paid, so we expect you to treat this experience as a job.
We’re willing to take interns from pretty much any field – but this internship will likely best be a fit for someone who is interested in one of the following areas: math, programming, video game design/animation, education, entrepreneurship or marketing.
Intern must be able to come into Santa Monica, CA, office one day (five hours) per week and can work other hours in office or remotely. If you elect to work remotely, you must have a computer with reliable Internet and Microsoft Office and Firefox installed.
If you want this internship for credit, we can work with you to set that up as well. (And we’ll still pay you.)
FYI, please check out our website before you apply so you know a bit about our company.
Please email resume and briefly explain (300 words or less) in the body of the email why you would be a fit for this position as well as what business area(s) you might be interested in focusing on at 7 Generation Games to Maria Burns Ortiz at email@example.com. No phone calls please.
